About Us...
We are a group of friends who enjoy cycling. We currently study at Welbeck DSFC, the only Ministry of Defence Sixth Form College in the UK, and therefore the military and fitness is something we take great pride in.
The event is approximately 850 Km from Calais to Albertville. We will then aim to complete the 2011 Tour de France "etape", which is one of the mountain stages of the Tour de France. Afterwards we make the return journey back to Calais, another 850 Km. We aim to do the whole trip in two weeks.
We are hoping to raise money for Help for Heroes during this event. This is a great charity that does fantastic work for service personnel that have been wounded, made sick or injured in the line of duty.
How it started...
Talking at breakfast one morning, we thought it would be nice to do a cycle ride in France over the summer before University.
This idea developed as more wanted to join the group and get involved. We came up with a route that we would all like to complete and then thought, why not do this for charity?
As we have strong links with the military, we decided that we would raise money for Help for Heroes and here we are today....
